The novel concept of EVVEN C.A on
Margarita Island, Venezuela.
|
The following
information is taken
from the novel and innovative development Project
EVVEN C.A's Business Plan. Shrimp culturing
is highly profitable relative to other coastal
livelihood options, and locally operated farms
and hatcheries have had a major positive impact
in terms of local employment and increase in
standard of living in otherwise very poor communities.
In the past decade, rapid and unplanned growth
has resulted in serious problems of mangrove
destruction, erosion, flooding, and disease.
-
Facilitative
conditions in each of the cases associated with
successful project implementation include a
perceived need for change and commitment from
key stakeholders, multilevel involvement and
participation of beneficiaries, continuity of
effort, agreed upon roles and responsibilities,
trust, and clear and shared objectives. EVVEN
facilities are responsible in all considerations
of the local and world community.
-
Many operations
in the shrimp industry are unsustainable, un
optimized poorly managed enterprises, which
have been started small. Their initial success
comes with damage for the environment.
-
As their shrimp
habitat becomes more and more polluted, it is
a race between shrimp diseases and environmentalists
to shut them down. Please read the Cholutecan
Declaration on Shrimp-farming. These environmentally
unfriendly operations are being banned by environmental
law in many jurisdictions, and due to the lack
of control over their operation, are becoming
unsuccessful due to the spread of diseases.
-
Improving on
these primitive methods, a new kind of aqua
culture is evolving.
-
This new kind
of shrimp aqua culture is being pioneered in
several locations throughout the world; it is
clean and sustainable using all means available
to raise production levels without being harmful
to the environment.
-
Once capital
investment is available, EVVEN C.A. shall take
this evolution of efficient operations to the
next stage with a non-polluting, sustainable
and innovative operation with the economics
of scale to achieve the ultimate optimization
in operations for shrimp cultivation.
-
In addition to
shrimp yields, other by products are planned
in Stage 3 to take advantage of the capabilities
of the facility such as chitin and organic fertilizer.
"Chitin" is a shrimp by-product used
in all kinds of industries including the chemical
removal of heavy metals from water, manufacture
of many kinds of fiber additive materials for
such applications as medical suture thread,
and even in the anti-fat diet additives such
as "Fat Blocker" (TM). Click here

EVVENC.A.
will be able
to produce shrimp with a novel system at a fantastical
low price, comparable to extensive
aqua-culture ,
collecting through innovative technology all waste to
produce a highly mineralized organic fertilizer. And a
substance called chitin will be extract from the shrimp
shells. It is not very difficult to grow shrimp
though it becomes increasingly complex when the shrimp
density in aqua-culture ponds is raised to a hundred
post larvae per square meter. Please view the table:

EVVEN
C.A is one of the first development projects which will
give job opportunities to the rural population of Margarita
Island, Venezuela, a tax-free island in the caribbean
sea without forgetting the economical side of this shrimp
venture. The production of organic
fertilizer,
a commodity much needed in the rainforest region around
the equator, raises the chances of reviving and reforesting
the region in a healthy and ecologically balanced manner.

Chitin:
A versatile
product which is the production base of Chitosan, essentially
a polymer of repeating sugar groups, is a positively
charged polymer. It is used in cosmetics, water purification,
waste recovery, food, medicine, and agriculture and
utilizes its positively charged nature to cling to negatively
charged surfaces such as skin, hair, etc.
It is
targeted in a number of biomedical applications, including
drug delivery. There are several patented applications
where Chitosan is used to deliver drugs in a more controlled
fashion. These applications will require a very high
purity product made under strict FDA guidelines. EVVEN
C.A. as a producer has proper control about the quality
of the Chitin and therefore of Chitosan. World market
of Chitin and its sub-products is an estimated $ 645million.
